In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Prepare for the M_o_R® Practitioner exams (voucher, manuals, sample exams and pre-course study guides included).
  • Provide delegates with an understanding of the benefits and principles underlying a structured approach to assessing and managing risks.
  • Applying the principles of M_o_R® within a work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers within a structured risk environment.
  • Enable delegates to understand the M_o_R® method at the Practitioner level. 

Practitioner 

The purpose of the Practitioner certification is to confirm whether you have sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor M_o_R® in a scenario situation. You should, with suitable direction, be able to start applying an M_o_R® approach to any organisational perspective but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations.

M_o_R Practitioner Certification Training Outline

Module 1: Understand the Purpose & Principles of Risk Management

  • Define risk and risk management, and distinguish between risks and issues.
  • Explain how risk management supports corporate governance and enterprise risk management.
  • Identify challenges in product-oriented organizations.
  • Assess risk management in functional vs. product-oriented organizations.
  • Describe the purpose of principles in risk management.
  • Apply and analyze the eight M_o_R® principles (e.g., aligns with objectives, fits the context, engages stakeholders, etc.).

Module 2: Understand How Risk Management Applies Within and Across the 6 Perspectives

  • Explain the purpose of risk management in each of the six perspectives.
  • Describe integration and calibration across perspectives.
  • Apply practices and controls for each perspective: strategic, portfolio, programme, project, product, and operational.
  • Address delivery modes (e.g., Agile, hybrid) in the project perspective.

Module 3: Understand How People and Culture Influence Effective Risk Management

  • Describe how people and culture impact risk management.
  • Assess stakeholder engagement, decision biases, and individual competence.
  • Analyze how risk culture influences effectiveness.
  • Evaluate how to establish a supportive risk culture.
  • Analyze solutions to common risk management challenges.

Module 4: Understand How to Apply the 8 Processes of Risk Management to Create and Protect Value

  • Describe the purpose and objectives of each process
  • Apply each process by summarizing key steps, tools, documents, roles, and how perspectives and biases are addressed

You will be provided with an exam voucher for each exam and a link to register and schedule your online exam sessions with the PeopleCert web proctoring service.  You will take your exams after you have completed your training course.

PeopleCert strives to deliver results to Learning Tree within two or four weeks of receiving exams.

PeopleCert has accredited both Learning Tree and this course.  As an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO), Learning Tree and its trainers have been approved to deliver this course.  PeopleCert is responsible for invigilating the examinations and the learner of the results.

Certification candidates and existing credential holders are responsible for reporting all Continuing Certification Requirements Program (CCR) activities to PMI (Project Management Institute). To report the completion of a Learning Tree course, you can use the Online PDU (Professional Development Units) Resources System.
