What is this course about?This course is the final module of the Service Lifecycle and/or Service Capability modules and leads to the ITIL Expert Qualification in IT Service Management. This course tests and validates your knowledge across the contents of the ITIL publications and focuses on business, management and supervisory objectives, purpose, processes, functions and activities. This course also focuses on the interfaces and interactions between the processes covered in the five core ITIL publications.Who will benefit from this course?This course is valuable for those who want to achieve the ITIL Intermediate Qualification: Managing Across the Lifecycle Certificate. Specifically, this course is targeted to the following individuals:Those who require a business- and management-level understanding of the ITIL core Lifecycle and how to implement the Lifecycle to enhance the quality of IT service provision within an organisationThose who want to obtain the ITIL Expert Qualification, for which this course is the final mandatory moduleThose seeking to progress toward the ITIL Master Qualification, for this the ITIL Expert is a prerequisite What background do I need?You must hold the ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate or the v3 Foundation Bridge Certificate and have at least 17 credits from previous certifications to attend the course and take the ITIL Certification Exam on the final day of class.It is also strongly recommended that you complete the pre-course work, which includes reading the Key Element Guide Suite, reviewing the certification syllabus and reviewing the ITIL Service Lifecycle core publications in advance of attending the course.Is the structure of this course similar to Learning Tree's ITIL Intermediate Lifecycle and Capability courses?Not exactly. This is the final ITIL course leading to the ITIL Expert designation. In the Qualification framework, this course sits above both the Lifecycle and Capability courses and is the capstone course designed to build on your existing knowledge. This course follows the official accreditation syllabus and covers material from the Intermediate courses. It is designed to ensure that you thoroughly grasp the concepts and can apply them to real world management situations. This course will feel different than the Lifecycle and Capability courses because you apply your knowledge rather than just absorb new information.Does this course count toward the ITIL Expert certification?Yes. This course is the final module of the Service Lifecycle and/or Service Capability modules and leads to the ITIL Expert Qualification in IT Service Management.To determine how many credits you currently hold within the ITIL scheme, you can refer to the APMG's ITIL Credit Profiler online tool. This tool can help you assess and decide on the best route for certification, while providing you the freedom to choose a selection of modules based on your own educational and certification requirements. It is available at http://www.itil-officialsite.com/itilservices/v1/map.asp.What are the next steps to become an ITIL Expert?To achieve the ITIL Expert qualification, you must gain a total of 22 credit points through the ITIL qualification scheme. Once you have obtained the 22 credits, go to the official ITIL site to download and complete the appropriate form. As an added benefit, if you took the ITIL Manager Bridge or the Managing Across the Lifecycle exams through the an APMG-accredited ATO-including Learning Tree-you will not be charged for the ITIL Expert application. You must correctly answer 70% of the questions to pass.Is this course accredited?Yes! APMG, the official ITIL accreditor, has accredited this course and the instructors who teach it as providing high-quality training in IT Service Management.Is this course applicable to a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification?
Yes. Although this course is not designed as preparation for the exam, it is beneficial to anyone working toward PMI's PMP certification. For those who are currently certified, completion of this course counts as 30 professional development units (60 units must be completed every three years to maintain certification).
